Reader’s Write: Borchers right choice for GCP Water District

The Island Now

On Tuesday, Dec. 10 the community of the Garden City Park Water District will be able to vote for water commissioner. It is this election that has compelled us to write this letter endorsing the re-election of Ken Borchers.

Mr. Borchers has been an effective and diligent commissioner on all levels of his responsibilities. He has stayed committed to ensuring the public has had a quality water product provided to them every year he has served.

He personally sees through customer concerns and promptly addresses issue that may arise.

Last spring a curb cock in front of our home had heaved with the thaw and we had concerns about the height and the possibility of ruining our mower. We expressed our concerns to Mr. Borchers and within hours of the same day a crew was sent over. Problem solved!

Mr. Borchers has always proved to be an honest, sincere and effective member of the water/fire district. It is through his efforts we have had no rate increases for over six years. He put the needs of the community before his own when Hurricane Sandy hit. Without having his own power for almost three weeks, he still made sure the water supply to the community was not affected and there was no interruption of fire or water services. He made it his priority!

This kind of commitment to our community should be commended.

Along with his duties as commissioner, Mr. Borchers has served with the GCP volunteer fire department, is the Company 3 financial treasurer and a strong supporter of the Junior Firefighters and the Boy and Girl Scouts of America.

Mr. Borchers believes in making a difference to our community with a positive attitude and a sincere passion for his position as water commissioner.

It is our hope that he is re-elected as water commissioner so that he may serve, as in the past, with a dedication to us all for ensuring the best water service for our community!
