Readers Write: Boy Scouts gay policy compromises principles

The Island Now

The Boy Scouts of America has voted on and approved a resolution to allow gay youths to join the Boy Scouts but not adults.

Now that I find quite troubling. The Boy Scouts has made a compromise that in my opinion is a appeasement to deflect those who are opposed to the principles of the Boy Scouts.

I myself have been a Cub Scout, Boy Scout and Explorer Scout and found it to be a most rewarding and educational experience.

In my view the Boy Scouts is about development of those skills and abilities that enhances those young men in their entrance into adulthood. To allow one’s sexuality to enter the matrix is just counter productive and destructive for all concern.

Let me also add that some young people can be cruel and bully those that are different and as such trigger an increase in teenage suicide.

Now that would be very sad.
