The CEO of a Plainview-based medical marijuana referral company was arrested on felony drug charges near the Great Neck exit of the Long Island Expressway on Aug. 22, after he was pulled over by Lake Success police who allegedly found marijuana, cocaine and ecstasy in his company van.

Lake Success Police Chief Joseph Gardella said a Lake Success police officer pulled over Jason Draizin, CEO of MarijuanaDoctors.com, and John Nicolazzo, the driver of the vehicle, after their company van allegedly began driving in the left HOV lane of the Long Island Expressway.

Gardella said commercial vehicles are not allowed to drive in the HOV lane.

The officer, Gardella said, smelled an odor that “he believed to be marijuana.”

After scanning the company van’s license plate and finding out that Nicolazzo was driving with a suspended license, the vehicle was impounded by Lake Success police, Gardella said.

While impounding the vehicle, police said, they found illegal drugs including cocaine, marijuana and ecstasy in the van.

Draizin was arraigned on felony drug charges on Aug. 23 and is due back in court on Oct. 20, according to a spokesman for Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice.

Efforts to reach Draizin’s attorney, Mark Heller, were unavailing.

MarijuanaDoctors.com is a Plainview-based company that refers New York residents to medical marijuana dispensaries in other states, according to their website.
