A Queens woman was arraigned Thursday for allegedly stealing $4,000 from the New Hyde Park bank where she worked.

Police arrested Raquel Benjamin, 28, on March 26 after an investigation found she allegedly took the money from her bank drawer at the TD Bank at 110 Hillside Ave., where she was a teller, Nassau County police said.

TD Bank security conducted an audit at the branch the day before, police said.

Prior to the audit, Benjamin asked another teller to give her $4,000 in large bills for the same amount in smaller bills, police said. She put the money in her drawer but never gave the other teller any back, police said.

Benjamin denied the transaction when security asked her about it during the audit, police said.

Security contacted Nassau County property crimes detectives and they arrested Benjamin after investigating, police said.

Benjamin is charged with one felony count of third-degree grand larceny, court records show. Her bail is set at $2,000 cash or $2,500 bond.

Benjamin is due back in First District Court in Hempstead on May 2.
