A Huntington Station woman was arrested in the Village of East Hills on Sunday for having twice the legal limit of alcohol in her system when she allegedly got into a car accident that injured her passenger.

Nassau County Police said Genese M. Smith, 33, recorded a blood-alcohol reading of .19 percent after she was apprehended after crashing her 2007 Nissan into a wall along Exit 39 on the eastbound side of the Long Island Expressway at 10:02 p.m. on Sunday.

Smith was charged with two counts of driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated, police said, and arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Monday.

Smith’s passenger, identified by police only as a 27-year-old male, suffered a shoulder injury and was taken to a local hospital. Smith was not injured in the accident, police said. Her car was impounded at the scene.
