Reader’s Write: Ehrbar, trustees have earned re-election

The Island Now

This has been a very quiet pre-election period.  Little has been published or circulated.

Four years ago Paul Ehrbar was elected mayor. Since then he has made that position almost full-time for him. And, I must admit that he has done a good job.

The village board has also contributed to the running of the village.  Maybe my taxes have gone up, but my water is pure, my streets are plowed when it snows and clean when it doesn’t, my trash is collected, trees are trimmed, pot holes are filled and even some road are paved, the EMS and fire department respond to emergencies and the auxiliary police keep traffic moving during parades.

The village pool runs splashingly and is a great place to retreat to on a hot day and enjoyable baseball can be seen at Kelleher Field.

The library staff is efficient and very helpful and pleasant.  The Village Hall staff is efficient, but could smile more and the building department is on the look-out for illegal projects and uses.

Generally most neighbors like each other, help each other and block parties are well organized and attended.  If I want to be heard by the mayor and the board I will be at all board meetings without oppression or derision.

No doubt the past four years have been tough on many Americans and I am sure some in Williston Park.  But, I don’t know of a place where I would rather live in good times or bad than where I live now.

So, come Election Day don’t stay home. Go vote to show our elected village leaders that we recognize and appreciate their efforts.
