Readers Write: Gov’s snooping protects our safety

The Island Now

I have not heard any news indicating that as a result of our emails, phone calls, internet or whatever being monitored that anyone has lost their life or has been injured in the widest sense of the word. As I have said, monitor me, I don’t object.

I have nothing to hide that they would be interested in. They are not going to such as tell a husband’s wife that he has a girlfriend. Also, I have not seen or heard as much as one example of anyone’s freedom being lessened.

Monitoring regular mail has probably saved some lives from ricin. The last episode involving the woman shows that they are out there.

Recently, the Tea Party (trash enough already) was demonstrating locally against New York State gun legislation. They were claiming it infringes on their right to own guns. Nothing I have seen in the law indicates that. Only the category of such as idiots, lunatics and criminals should not have guns.

If they say that they can’t own guns, how do they categorize  themselves? If they think that is what it means, are they mentally compromised?

In the news is that big brother is watching us. All we big brothers and sisters are watching big brother too. And the hoodlums.

Not to worry. The sky won’t fall. Our government does have to keep certain secrets so as not to tip off potential murderers.

Therefore, we don’t know how many lives have been saved thus far and with that, we will have to live.
