Readers Write: INN perfect for your donation

The Island Now

In reference to Mr. Bedell’s letter (“Show thanks by helping the less fortunate”), I heartily agree that we should donate food and support the work of all local food pantries and soup kitchens.

In particular, the work of The INN (Interfaith Nutrition Network) has been a source of strength for more than 30 years for those who struggle with hunger and homelessness on Long Island.

Thanksgiving inspires us to share the blessings we have, but we need to be mindful that hunger among our neighbors on Long Island doesn’t end when the holidays end.

Hunger never takes a vacation, it never pauses for a holiday weekend, and it affects children, single mothers, senior citizens, and homeless veterans 52 weeks a year.

I’ve been a volunteer for The INN for thirteen years and I’ve seen the grateful faces of those who seek its help.

I know firsthand that The INN never turns anyone away and never charges for its services.   To learn more or to make a donation, please contact me at:  davegolbert@yahoo.com.

As the sages teach us:  “blessed are those who share with those who have less.”
