Catholicism is highly structured, hierarchical, merit driven religion where people are saved through the ‘church,’ not just through personal relationship with Jesus. Power and corruption is like reality and shadow, though there is corruption in religion. Nevertheless, all over the New Testaments, Jesus never intended to start a religion. We are not called to defend Christianity, but only witness God.

Aforementioned is a piece of message from the Vatican last week. I really don’t see any deeper significance in the arrest of this official than that he was simply a thief masquerading as a church official and just now deserves what he is getting.
