Obituary: Lawrence E. Eich, 89

Lawrence E. Eich, of Rochester, Mass. died Thursday, Dec. 12, at Tobey Hospital in Wareham, Mass. He was 89 years old. 

Born in Brooklyn, the son of the late Lawrence and Caroline (Ochs) Eich, he lived in New Hyde Park, for many years before moving to Rochester 26 years ago.

He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church.

A graduate of St. John’s University, Eich was formerly employed as a credit manager for American Chicle Company, which later merged with Warner-Lambert Pharmaceuticals.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific aboard the USS Thetis Bay.

Eich enjoyed fishing, gardening, golfing and his dogs, according the funeral home director.

He is survived by his wife, Anna, and his daughter Linda Arectos of North Truro, Mass.

A wake was held on Monday at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett in Mattapoisett, Mass. His funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church. 

Burial followed in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Mass.
