Readers Write: Let secular gov do God’s work

The Island Now

A comment on “Democracy, religious law do not mix each” by Theodore Theodorsen on July, 11.

In this writer’s opinion, the article’s viewpoint is sound and its logical foundation is well balanced. It has good points.

History confirms that religious government is often corrupted. No human institutional entity can in the name of God act like God in his place.

Indeed, any form of absolute power will eventually lead to corruption and corruption will then escalate where there is no mechanism in place for affecting change.

Actually, there is a consequent ‘Butterfly effect’ just as Dr. E. Lorenz, PhD has proposed initially in the field of weather, but it can, as well, be applied in other societal (including political) aspects.

That being mentioned, nevertheless, secular government is not necessarily wrong. At times, it’s moral code and value can as well parallel that of the Bible. Why not?

In my opinion, it is our job to influence the secular government to reflect the desire of God.

Why not?
