Reader’s Write: Letter-writers fail to persuade, illuminate

The Island Now

Another week and another barrage from the usual suspects. Nothing new.

Regardless of specifics, which are rare, these rants predictably involve politics, a low brow obsession of those who always know what’s best for  everybody else; in this country, the world and the universe.

Doubt it?

Just ask these harridans. The hallmarks of these screeds are their self righteousness, their intolerance, their witlessness, their selective facts  and their infantile syntax, which would embarrass a third grader.

Sam Clemens opined that, “It’s far better to remain silent and be presumed an ignoramus,  than open one’s mouth and remove all doubt.”

Were he present today,  his opinion would be confirmed.
