Reader’s Write: Liberals live in bubble ignorant of Tea Party

The Island Now

Great Neck liberals, what exactly do you know about the Tea Party?

I’m sure your “extensive” research demonstrated that they are all racists, they want to destroy Medicare and reduce woman’s rights? Correct?

You even told me that they hate gays and immigrants.

How do you know all of that?

I guess you read Nancy Pelosi’s brilliant statements. You must have listened to Harry Reid and watched every Chris Matthews show. I’m sure MSNBC is your favorite station, you just love reading Newsweek and of course, Fox, Rush and Shawn are banned in your home. After reading every issue of the New York Times, you consulted with all your friends at the ACLU.

Remember what your Prius salesman told you? You even brought it up at the last Planned Parenthood fundraiser.

Remember the guy who installed your solar panels? Wasn’t it “refreshing” hearing John Boehner and Peter King blast them.

Let me ask you a question?

After you consulted with all of these “impartial” sources, what happened when you sat down with one of us and listened to what we had to say?

Wait a minute! You never spoke directly with any of us? Then how do you know these accusations are true?

Do any of you Roslyn liberals want to hear directly from someone in the Tea Party? Or is your mind so made up after you listened to Rachel Maddow and Ed Schultz.

I co-founded a Tea Party group five  years ago. It would make more sense to get my opinions instead of listening to Debbie Wasserman-Schultz.

Remember, these are my views and not the opinions  of any other Tea Party member or group.

1 – I am Pro Life. Life begins at conception.

However, in the case of rape, incest, or the severely medically compromised, I feel that the decision to terminate the pregnancy should be in the hands of the mother.

Are you shocked?

A Tea Party member allowing some abortions? On the other hand, I consider third-term abortions infanticide and they should be banned!

This year I saw sonograms of our unborn granddaughter, and one hour after she was born, we held her for the first time. I defy any pro choice defender to tell me that any unborn child should not be protected!

What was a theoretical issue for me became a life changing moment.

2 – The 2nd amendment absolutely guarantees my right to own a firearm.

However, I am in favor of background checks to “try” and weed out criminals and the mentally unstable. Imagine that?

I belong to the NRA and I believe in gun registration . Are your stereotypes diminishing?

3 – What about the 15 million illegals?

It’s obvious to me that Americans, myself included, don’t want any mass exportation.

So firstly, all the powers of our military should be used to secure our borders and stop the inflow of more illegals. After that is set in place, everyone here illegally, should have a one year grace period to register.

Anyone not registered or anyone who has committed any crimes, should be immediately exported. Those remaining should have a legal pathway towards citizenship! Again, are you surprised?

4 – I personally believe in the traditional definition of marriage, between a man and a woman. Legalizing gay marriage should be determined by the voters in each state, not by any legislature.

But, everyone is entitled to their own lifestyle and they should be granted the same legal rights as all of us. Now, the other issues;

5 – Our freedoms are being eroded by our government.

a – Freedom of religion is basic. Forcing anyone to pay for abortions, as in Obamacare, is a disgrace.

b – Freedoms of speech and the press are constitutionally guaranteed for everyone. That even includes “Duck Dynasty”.

c –  Our e-mails, phone calls and mails are private and should only be monitored by a court order, in limited national security instances.

d -The president can not circumvent Congress whenever he wants something passed! This is tyrannical and unconstitutional.

e –  The IRS  can not refuse tax exemptions or administer pressure on individuals or groups, based on their political beliefs. If President Bush did any of this, the New York Times would call for his impeachment!

For  those of you who say that it’s okay to do this if you have nothing to hide :

Do you want someone listening in on a conversation between you and your lawyer or tax preparer?

Do you want them to hear discussions with your doctor about your wife’s gynecological problems ?  I don’t think so!

6 –  We must immediately start reducing our $17 trillion debt by reducing our outlandish expenditures. We have a spending not a revenue problem.

7 – The U.S. is the leader of the free world. I want strong national defense. We should not be afraid to reward our friends and punish our enemies.

8 –  I want to reduce our taxes and put money into the hands of individuals and local communities rather than giving it to our “friends” in Albany and Washington.

9 – I want to reevaluate all our entitlement programs to see which ones are really working! We want to help those truly in need, but not create a permanent welfare class!

10 –  Obamacare should be repealed because it’s massive problems can not be corrected. Socialized medicine is not the answer.

11 – I want tax reform, by removing loopholes and lowering the tax rate. A flat tax is the best solution.

12 – We must make Medicare fiscally sound, not by reducing its benefits or reducing doctors payments, in order to insure its existence for generations to come.

Free-market capitalism, smaller government , lower taxes, national defense, that’s what I want.  Can you tell me if MSNBC described us this way? Do you disagree with any of my positions?

We, in the Tea Party are fed up with the media ! We are fed up with elected officials of both parties who  are only interested in preserving their own power.

The Tea Party presented a platform to the American people and forced both political parties to finally discuss all the issues,

Ten months till the next election !!!

“Throw the bums out !”
