Reader’s Write: Long Island no country for young men and women

The Island Now

Is this really any surprise to anyone that the youth can’t make it on Long Island with no jobs to look forward to and school loans due.

And then you look on page four to see that Sewanhaka is again trying to push its multi-million dollar tax increase.

It’s no wonder that many youth don’t see themselves raising a family here. To them I say good luck and I don’t blame you.

One bedroom apartments going for $1,800 per month. In many cases you may have to send your future children to private schools.

And  eroding of old bridges and roads. Even getting on and off the Island is getting ridiculous.

All the studies doesn’t mean a thing if our leaders don’t action. And not just talk about.

Business not hiring and even moving out of state haven’t helped with this dire situation.

As the rest of us get older, who will live here to replace us.

There are good paying jobs as well as social centers out there.

Just look at how long its taken to resolve the building of a new Nassau Coliseum.

Just makes me think about ghost towns.
