Reader’s Write: Nothing gets done as school shootings continue

The Island Now

Another shooting has occurred and this time at Arapahoe High School in Centennial, Colo., just eight miles from the Columbine massacre.

Now this happen a day before the anniversary of the Newtown massacre. This I feel brings much sadness and grief to many of us across this great nation of ours. Schools ought to be safe and secure and no guns should enter the picture and killing our children by those with evil intent.

I wish I had the answers how to stop this from happening again.

Maybe more security at schools equipped with scanners and periodic searches for weapons. There are games out there that promote violence that causes certain individuals who are prone to violent desires and maybe ought to be eliminated. Not to mention stricter gun control and more arrests for gun trafficking.

But all this adds up to censorship and turning our schools into a police environment. By doing all this destroys those freedoms we hold most dear and that is a shame we have come to this.

For now lets pray for all those that have been shot and killed and all the families that are still grieving.

Also I think we should hold a national day of prayer every year for all children that they be safe and secure.

Our nation is bleeding from all this senseless violence and it must end. Remember this too: Evil thrives when good people do nothing.
