Readers Write: NSA surveillance does no harm to the innocent

The Island Now

There is the continued discussion about the monitoring of our phone calls, internet, texts and e-mails, etc. It will surely continue.

Still, I have yet to hear of a case of anyone being harmed or inconvenienced as a result.

As I have said before, I don’t mind being monitored. I can imagine that as it is, those whose duty it is to monitor have more necessary leads to follow than can be thoroughly investigated.

They have no time for frivolous snooping. Though there hasn’t been much talk about this or the following subject, I can see that when there are leaks of sensitive and classified information, it is necessary to monitor the media when needed in order to determine who is leaking the information.

That is part of maintaining security.

I also see nothing wrong with the IRS doing what is necessary to determine if, who and what is really worthy of tax-exempt status.

We are all in need of having all proper taxes paid. If Bible study can be exempt, then why not wine tasting?

We may have been luckier so far than we imagine.

“If you see something, say something” is very important. Perhaps many of us do. We all have many more eyes than our levels of government has. I also occasionally ride the subway.
