Readers Write: On time LIRR trains shouldn’t be rocket science

The Island Now

Another week has flown by and I ask myself, should I be ruled by apathy or comment constructively as I see fit and thereby do my duty as a self-governing citizen in a democracy? I choose the later.

Considering the situation throughout the Middle East and all the forces involved, even though we the U.S. would like to resolve it, there is really not much we are able to do. We are also in debt by past malfeasance and have our own problems to solve. We would if we could and the world knows that.

At least, to understand it we can look at the various factions that exist here that can’t get along and can’t get resolved.

I saw a discussion about the rover that went to Mars and how the many parts all performed flawlessly. Then again a LIRR train derailed in an East River tunnel destroying quite a lot of track.

The question: If the rover can go, can’t there be dependable service on the railroads? It is not the first in those tunnels and there have been other recent derailments that should not have happened.

No wonder we do not as of yet have high-speed rail service as exists in Europe and other places.

It would be a disaster waiting to happen. There are conflicts of interest that have to be resolved here.

I am not but if I were a gun owner I would have them secured so that no one could get them or use them. I am at least that intelligent.

Funny that not one word about this has been mentioned in the melee of this ongoing legislation.

Motor vehicles have to be registered and insured too. That does not keep people from owning them.

Now now down Dow. Seems the stimulus has been a cash cow.

The taxpayer may well pick up the tab for it all while we know who have reaped the reward. Oh yeah, we know who we are. We and they, they and we.
