Readers Write: Others’ opinions no reason to cancel paper

The Island Now

Just as Ms. Stein wrote a few weeks ago, I too have considered not continuing my subscription to this paper, but for a totally different reason.

I do not want to support, by subscription dollars, a newspaper which has an editorial board typically writing liberally biased pieces, giving the impression that the news on all of the other pages may likely be biased as well (a la mainstream media).

However, if I discontinued my subscription, I would thoroughly miss Larry Penner’s informative pieces and the brilliant mind and talented writing of Dr. Stephen Morris.

Not only is all of the information they detail weekly accurate (no liberal propaganda, just plain facts and statistics, without fear of the political correctness police), but their researched information is also the reality which the left has tried to cover up so that the masses remain clueless.

Too many others soak up the propaganda and some even blindly write editorials.

The ugly leftist socialist ideology, cloaked in “do-goodedness,” is promoted not only in the universities today, but in public schools as early on as kindergarten, when liberal administrators can get away with it.

When a creative citizen composes an editorial on a weekly basis to inform the misled masses and manages to make the piece witty and a pleasure to read, that person has a true gift.

Do people really only want continuous exposure to some of the other weekly contributors who just sound cranky by rambling on, repeating liberal propaganda?

For example, the escalating cost of private health insurance is the “under the radar” manner in which free health care is being provided to illegals, Ms. Confino.

Have you been to the LIJ emergency room lately?

My own health insurance premiums have increased significantly since Obamacare and my coverage has declined.

Obamacare is imploding from its own disastrous rules, regulations, and exemptions for Congress, their staff and Obama buddies, and yet there are editorials being printed complaining about writers who have exposed this disastrous truth.

As far as speaking about President Obama overseas, as Dr. Morris said he did, it is certainly a right as an American to speak the truth about our president when engaged in such conversation abroad.

Heck, President Obama speaks negatively about America to international crowds and all over the Middle East, making apologies for our history.

Funny, last I looked, our brave American military has done more than any other to rid the world of corrupt and brutal despots and dictators, but the facts elude President Obama when they don’t fit his agenda.

As I now anticipate the arrival of next week’s edition of the Herald Courier, I look forward to reading the latest editorial by our esteemed founder of the local Tea Party chapter.

I would much rather read about Dr. and Mrs. Morris’ travels, or about his high school and college studies (a fellow alum of both schools, I am grateful that at least two of us came through untainted), than waste my money on the once respectable New York Times.

Keep ‘em coming Dr. Morris. You not only educate, you entertain as well!
