Virgilio Chiropractic Wellness Padres at Massage Envy Spa Twins

HERRICKS-  The Virgilio Chiropractic Wellness Padres put forth their best effort of the 2014 season during their matchup with the Massage Envy Spa Twins.  While Brian O’Connor was keeping the Twins off the board for two innings, Michael Manfredi singled and scored to put the Padres on top.  After the Twins put on a hitting clinic in the bottom of the fifth, the Padres showed mental fortitude by making every at bat thereafter count.  Nicholas Gregory led off the sixth with his third hit of the game and promptly stole second and third.  Stephen Coffey followed with his fifth home run of the year.  Next  batter was Dylan Colon, who smashed a double to keep the rally going. Not to be out done, Michael O’Grady promptly smashed his second home run of 2014.  Other huge contributions came from Joseph Manfredi  (3-for-4 with a triple, RBI), Ryan Wang (big hit and two SB in the fourth), and Aniketh Kumar (great heads-up play in the field).  The best game of the season for the Virgilio Chiropractic Wellness Padres by far.

City Line Florist Braves at Virgilio Chiropractic Wellness Padres

MANOR OAKS- The Virgilio Chiropractic Wellness Padres arrived at Manor Oaks with an axe to grind.  After facing tough Royal pitching in the previous game, the Padres looked to get the offense rolling again at the expense of the City Line Florist Braves. After Michael Manfredi shut down the Braves in the top of the first, Padre leadoff hitter Brian O’Connor singled and stole second.  A two out single by Mr. Manfredi put runners at the corners, but there they were stranded.  However, the second inning proved fruitful as the Padres batted around.  Stephen Coffey started the inning with a single.  After stealing second and third, Coffey scored easily on Michael O’Grady’s shot to center.  Great Braves defense held him to a single, but O’Grady took second on the throw in.  The first of Ryan Wang’s two singles drove in O’Grady. With two outs, the Padres loaded the bases by Joseph Manfredi singling and Aniketh Kumar getting hit by a pitch.  Michael Manfredi’s second hit drove in Wang.  Dylan Colon threw two scoreless innings and Nicholas Gregory played great defense and the Padres were back on track.

Modells/Evolution Realty River Sharks versus the New Hyde Park Elks Lodge Bears

Up until this point in the season for the River Sharks, pitching has been the key to victory.  On a sunny and pleasant spring afternoon at Merillon Field, pitching was there again, but it was most exciting to see the bats come alive throughout the Sharks hard-working lineup.  Franco Dimilta and Stephen Farishian were stringing together efficient innings- pitching to contact and relying on the strong defense of their teammates behind them.  To the delight of the Sharks’ fans that packed the bleachers by first base, Nick Levkulic and Matt Rivera were launching rockets at the plate and adding to their already gaudy RBI totals this season.   The RBI party started in the first inning when Matt Merolla ripped a bases loaded single to left to drive in two runs and Cenzo Montoni added an RBI with a hot shot up the middle. James Dermezis kept the rally going with an RBI double to left center and Steven Noh added an RBI single of his own through the right side.  Anthony Steves, Ian Myer, Daniel Loughlin, and Daniel Mattei all contributed to a prolific Sharks offense. Even though offense ruled the day, Sandro Gullo provided fans of defense something to cheer about when he stole a base hit from the Bears.  Gullo shuffled to his right, corralled a hard hit ball, and dove head first to his left, touching first base with the ball in his glove for the out.
