Readers Write: Planet’s health all our responsibility

The Island Now

As a student/avid recycler/human being, I feel an inherent obligation to throw my plastic bottles and other recyclable materials into those bright blue bins we’ve come to think of as commonplace in homes around our town.

The upward trend of recycling in the household is a step in the right direction, but we must be compelled to go further.

Why aren’t there more separate recyclable cans in accessible places such as street corners, parks, and stores?

Not only would it make recycling on the go a more viable option, but it would keep the importance of the proper disposal of recyclable materials in all of our minds.

It is our mutual responsibility to keep our community and our planet healthy, so let’s do our part.
