A Queens man was arrested and charged early Saturday morning in North Hills for driving 100 miles per hour while drunk on the Long Island Expressway, police said.

Royce Quigua, 38, of 61-05 39th Street in Woodside, Queens was charged with multiple vehicle and traffic violations, in addition to driving while intoxicated and fleeing a police officer, after police say he passed a highway patrol officer eastbound on the Long Island Expressway near Exit 40 at Jericho Turnpike at 100 miles per hour, then changed lanes and cut off the police vehicle as he crossed the HOV lane divider.

Police said Quigua then made multiple lane changes without signaling and exited the Long Island Expressway, refusing to pull over.

Quigua was then seen passing several steady red lights, changing lanes without signaling, failing to maintain his lane, speeding and driving too closely to other cars, police said.

According to police, Quigua then re-entered the Long Island Expressway westbound and was stopped at Exit 36 at Searingtown Road with the help of several other highway patrol units.

An investigation revealed Quigua had been driving under the influence of alcohol.

His car was impounded.

Quigua was arraigned Sunday at 1st District Court in Hempstead.
