Garden City Park woman bought stolen jewelry: police

Police arrested a Garden City Park woman last Friday for allegedly buying stolen jewelry and selling untaxed cigarettes at her Hempstead business.

Amanda Molina, 57, did not keep proper business records as a second-hand purchaser or properly record seller information at Amanda Jewelry on North Franklin Street, police said.

In addition to stolen jewelry, Molina had counterfeit clothing worth just more than $1,000 and other merchandise with trademarks she was not authorized to sell, police said.

She was also selling cigarettes without a New York State tax stamp, police said.

Molina’s arrest resulted from an investigation by the Nassau County Police Department’s Burglary Pattern team, a task force formed in January to address a spike in residential burglaries.

Molina is charged with possession for sale of untaxed cigarettes, a misdemeanor, and two felonies: second-degree counterfeiting and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

She was released on a desk appearance ticket and is due to be arraigned April 26 in First District Court in Hempstead.
