Readers Write: Political blitz fails in GN

The Island Now

In reading the letters of both Bob Sobel and Jean Pierce in re: the recent Great Neck Village election, I am reminded of the word “Blitzkreig.” (GNN: 6/28/13)

It was used to describe Germany’s sudden declarations of war and sudden take over of surrounding countries before World War II. Dr. Bral and his associates were, to a lesser degree, attempting to do the same thing in taking over the executive positions in Great Neck Village.

This is not the American way. In our democracy, challengers present themselves up front, state their issues and have a fair and free election.

The winners and losers then work together to make the community safer and more efficient. Fortunately, the voters reacted properly and maintained our system. Bravo to them!
