Readers Write: PSEG LI Smart Meters violate 4th Amendment

The Island Now

In the Aug. 1 edition of “Reader’s Write” in the NHP Herald Courier, Gerald Peretsman makes the poorest argument I’ve ever seen in an effort to knock down the 25 objections I raised to “Smart Meters,” which appeared in the paper a few weeks ago.

He merely compares the “number” of objections with those cited for EZ-Pass several years ago, and makes more than a subtle attempt to mud-sling an opposing view.

I doubt that he read the prior objections to Smart Meters through, as they are quite troublesome to many – and just as importantly – Smart Meters are not mandatory – but the public would possibly be led to believe that they are.

In addition, they pose a health threat that this cancer survivor does not welcome.

Surely, there are two sides to every story, but you’ll have to come up with something better than an empty spin against the 25 objections set forth in my entry.

In fact, I have a 26th objection:  the 4th Amendment of our Constitution states that the people have the right to be secure in one’s home without government or quasi-government interference.
