Readers Write: Public begins to learn of Obamacare’s benefits

The Island Now

Latest news. The government shutdown is costing us $300 million per day! No thanks to you, intransigent Tea Partiers!

They were holding everyone hostage to get a year’s postponement of Obamacare procedures, in exchange for a six week bargain. No sale.

As soon as the new enrollees get a taste of what they are gaining just by registering for coverage under the Affordable Care Act, they will be very grateful.

My advice to those who have objections to giving millions of eligible people health care coverage is to first inform yourselves that Obamacare is just another name for the Affordable Care Act.

Then acquaint yourselves with what so many deserving, ill people will be able to avail themselves of and find out that many of the myths invented by opponents are simply not true.

The more registrants and the spread of risk with a larger pool of members, the greater the likelihood that this nation will end up spending less for health care in direct care and prevention, and with the ultimate savings of treating people before their illnesses get so serious that they cost much more to treat.

Surely a complicated plan will need tuning up, but what programs that we enjoy have not needed revisions as we went along?

Thank you President Obama for persisting and giving us something that has taken too long to pass.
