Reader’s Write: Re-elect Borchers to GCP Water-Fire District

The Island Now

As the November elections are behind us and the holiday season is quickly approaching, let’s not forget that there is still an important day ahead of us.

On Tuesday, Dec. 10, it is the responsibility of residents in North New Hyde Park and Manhasset Hills to vote for a reliable and responsible Commissioner of the Garden City Park Water/Fire District.

It is our responsibility to re-elect Ken Borchers.

When I first met Ken over six years ago while he was campaigning for commissioner, I jokingly told him that I would vote for him if he could do something about the water pressure in my home. I said that previous commissioners had promised me that a vote for them would get me results.

Needless to say, I voted but never saw them again after the campaigns ended. After winning the election and true to his word, Ken told me to come to the next board meeting and explain my situation.

With his help and within days of the meeting, I had water employees at my house testing the pressure and offering solutions.

Another time, there was a water main break in front of my house. Even though it was the Sunday of a holiday weekend, I called Ken. He had the guys from the water department at my house within minutes to fix the problem.

In my opinion, he is the best choice for commissioner. Ken has been a lifelong resident of this community for over 50 years.  He has also been an active member of the Garden City Park volunteer fire department for 30 of those years.

So, remember vote on Tuesday, Dec. 10 from 4:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Denton Avenue School or the Garden City Park Fire Department for the person who has been reliable and responsible to the residents of this community.

Please vote for Ken Borchers.
