Readers Write: Assembly also ailing

The Island Now

I read with interest Adam Haber’s column titled “Crazy, Dysfunctional State Senate,” but a better title would be “Crazy, Dysfunctional State Legislature.”

We most likely have the worst state Legislature in the country in terms of corruption, lack of transparency, spend-thrift ways and both houses are responsible.

Did Mr. Haber forget that the former long-term head of the assembly, Mr. (Sheldon) Silver, is probably in jail some place, accompanied by too many other legislators from both the Senate and Assembly?

If we had Democrats controlling both houses (I am a lifetime Democrat), we’d probably be paying a commuter tax right now, not have a tax cap on school taxes, and be many billions more in debt.
