We would like to set the record straight on two facts that the Save the Baxter House Committee just discovered on Friday, Feb. 24.
1. Structural engineers and Village of Baxter Estates Board were allowed into the Baxter House to assess the damage.
We had asked for copies of the report, have emails early on from members of the VBE that this was done from behind the fence, and were not given this additional relevant information.
2. We also just found out on Feb. 24 that an application to the Landmarks Preservation Commission will not be presented on March 1 at the Port Washington Public Library.
We have asked many questions and have done our due diligence and this is new information that we were just now told.
We are not sure what the purpose of this meeting is other than to hear public commentary and therefore we are very unclear on what has been decided regarding the future of the Baxter House.
