I write in opposition to the comments of [state] Assemblyman Charles Lavine in the Nov. 14 issue of the Manhasset Times.
Mr. Levine says that firearm violence is escalating and I believe he is incorrect. FBI data and reports from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Statistics indicate that crime is at an all time low in America.
He said that the recent Safe Act has already reduced firearm violence.
I would ask him to provide that data for I doubt that such data exists. The act is an attack on basic constitutional rights and should be repugnant to all citizens who cherish freedom.
