Readers Write: Spitzer lead in polls a bad sign

The Island Now

I have just read that disgraced ex-governor, Eliot Spitzer is ahead in the polls for the position of comptroller and that I find most disturbing.

I find that any elected position is a job that serves the good of the people and those wanting to serve must do so with a good record of proven citizenship. Now that being said, I feel that the person running for such positions needs to possess such qualities like good moral character, good personal conduct and must show respect toward family and community.

Well I feel Eliot Spitzer has failed on all counts and is not worthy of my vote.

I expect like many of my fellow New Yorkers that our elected officials should be held at a higher standard and must demonstrate those qualities that are above reproach.
