Reader’s Write: Trail of Roslyn Road deaths leads to pols

The Island Now

Typical of our Nassau County officials to show concern after the death of two young men.

Where were the officials when people were voicing concerns over the dangers along Roslyn Road. I myself drive along Roslyn Road a little further north in the Village Of Roslyn where the road changes names to Main Street and have been expressing my concerns for years.

Where is anyone committed to preserving the health and safety of residents?

Wayne Wink should be ashamed of himself especially when I have contacted his office for help with the traffic issues plaguing our neighborhood.

Typical politician going to take action now! Where was he when I asked for his help?

There is something seriously wrong with the way our public officials respond to concerns from the public. I have voiced my concerns in letters to Commissioner Shila Shah-Gavnoudias of the Nassau County Deptartment of Public Works, the mayor of Roslyn, Town Clerk Wayne Wink and the Nassau County Police Department and to this day nothing has been done.

I have received letters from the Nassau County Traffic Department and the mayor’s office confirming the issues and dangers along my section of Roslyn Road.

To this date nothing has been done to improve safety except for the fact a traffic study was performed confirming my concerns. The pass the buck mentality needs to stop, the village blaming the town the town blaming the county and no one doing anything.

I’m sure the residents living on Locust Lane expressed their concerns prior to this tragedy,

If someone would have taken up the cause & restrictions were implemented to control the speed of traffic maybe two young men would be alive today.

How long is it going to take until something is done? Why does the county take notice only after someone loses their life.

It angers me that no one did anything at this intersection after they had knowledge of previous accidents. It angers me that no one is doing anything on my street even after their studies & numerous accidents as well.

Shame on all who failed and continue to fail to do anything.
