Readers Write: Wink understands, meets needs of town clerk

The Island Now

I write this letter in support of the Democratic nominee for North Hempstead Town Clerk, the honorable Wayne Wink.

A proven vote getter, he was elected and re-elected to the town board and the Nassau County Legislature. His long association with the Town of North Hempstead is critical to the role of town clerk, for he has a deep knowledge and understanding of the town’s governmental structure and functions, along with the town code.

These attributes are essential to the town clerk’s role in our local government.

His legislative voting record demonstrates his advocacy for the social and financial issues that face town residents, especially in these difficult economic times.

Those who have worked with Mr. Wink can confirm that his diplomatic and negotiating skills are exceptional.

A very gifted and creative individual, I have always known Wayne Wink to be honest, sincere and hard working. Greatly respected by all who meet him, there is no doubt that he is very independent, for he is his own person.

Not only will Mr. Wink be an outstanding town clerk, but he will closely monitor the various town board legal items that are brought before the Clerk’s Office for review, as well as various clerk tasks that include licensing, maintaining vital records and other responsibilities.

Once again, our town will be very fortunate to have Wayne Wink as our town clerk for he will bring his broad legislative experience to town government, along with excellent legal expertise.

On Election Day, Nov. 5, I urge everyone to come out and vote for one of our favorite and best government officials – the honorable Wayne Wink.
