Will Kusnierek, Patrick Kavanagh, Joseph De Lyra, Frank Tangredi, and Christopher Nicholas had two points each for Chaminade.

Chaminade head coach Jack Moran said it was great to jump out to a quick lead, as they outscored Kellenberg 6-0 in the first quarter.

“They have some really good players and the key for us was to make them play from behind,” Moran said. “We pretty much dominated the first quarter. It gave us some cushion and leeway.”

Kusnierek led Chaminade in the first quarter with two goals, while De Lyra had a goal and an assist.

Two minutes into the first quarter, Chaminade struck twice with a goal from Christian Kuhn and Quinn 33 seconds apart.

Chaminade’s quick 2-0 lead prompted Kellenberg to call an early timeout.

Kusnierek gave Chaminade a 3-0 lead with 7:53 left to play in the first quarter.

Chaminade took a four goal lead with 5:57 remaining on a goal by De Lyra.

Kavanagh scored 18 seconds later to give Chaminade a commanding 5-0 lead.

With 3:43 left in the first quarter, Kusnierek gave Chaminade a 6-0 lead with his second goal of the game.

In the second quarter, Chaminade outscored Kellenberg 2-1.

Kellenberg broke the shutout at 9:57 but Chaminade responded a minute and 19 seconds later with a goal by Tangredi.

Quinn’s second goal of the game came with 4:07 left in the second quarter and Chaminade took an 8-1 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter, each team scored a goal but Kellenberg started to pick up their play.

Ken Brower scored a goal for Kellenberg with 8:19 remaining in the third quarter, as they trimmed their deficit to six.

Quinn completed the hat trick with 1:15 left in the third quarter to take back the seven goal lead.

Quinn said winning the battle for ground balls and their possession game was crucial in earning the win against Kellenberg.

“It definitely felt like a rivalry game,” Quinn said. “We just wanted to go out there and take care of our business right from the opening faceoff. We did a good job on the ground balls and possessed the ball more than they did.”

In the fourth quarter, neither side scored a goal as Chaminade went on to win 9-2.
