A car was vandalized with swastikas in a Mineola parking garage Monday night, Nassau County police said.
Officers from the Police Department’s 3rd Precinct saw two swastikas spray-painted on the driver’s and passenger’s doors of the 2011 Hyundai at 9:40 p.m. Monday in the public garage at Main Street and First Street, police said.
The car appears to have been chosen randomly and not targeted for the graffiti, a police spokesman said.
A passerby discovered the graffiti and the owner later took the car to have it removed, Mineola Village Clerk Joseph Scalero said.
“Given the heinous nature of the symbols used we’re hoping to catch somebody and bring them to justice,” Scalero said.

Swastikas and racial slurs were spray-painted on sidewalks on Elm Street and Washington Avenue in Mineola in November.
