The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County will present its 25th Annual Tribute Dinner on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 6 p.m.

The event will take place at the Old Westbury Hebrew Congregation, 21 Old Westbury Road in Old Westbury.

Honorees this year are Stuart Narofsky, principal of Narofsky Architecture; Ricky and Rabbi Myron Fenster, involved in the creation of HMTC since its inception; and Renee Katz and Sheila Rind, docents at HMTC.

The consul general of Israel, Ambassador Dani Dayan will give the keynote address. He will also participate in the unveiling of “After the Darkness,” an original piece of artwork created exclusively for HMTC by renowned 3D pop artist Charles Fazzino.

Sponsors of the dinner are Thomas S. Gulotta; Trudy and Steven Markowitz; Erika and Ken Witover; the Ike, Molly & Steven Elias Foundation; and The Signature B&B Companies. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available. Individual tickets are $450 a person. Young professionals (age 21-36) are $250 a person. All proceeds from the dinner go to support HMTC’s Holocaust, anti-bias, tolerance and anti-bullying programming.

This year’s recipient of the Public Service Award is Stuart Narofsky, the principal of Narofsky Architecture a multi-discipline design firm founded in 1983.

He is the recipient of the AIA Long Island Lifetime Achievement Award.

His projects are highly recognized through design awards, national and international publications, videos and exhibitions. HMTC is deeply indebted to him for all of the time and effort he has donated to the project to restore and enhance the Center’s Children’s Memorial Garden.

Ricky and Rabbi Myron Fenster, who will receive the Legacy Award, moved to Long Island with their families in 1966, where he served as a spiritual leader of the Shelter Rock Jewish Center until 2002.

They continued to serve communities around Long Island thereafter, in Great Neck, Old Westbury, East Hampton, and Greenport. He has been involved in the creation of HMTC from its inception, as its first educational guide, working side by side with the late Most Rev. Bishop John McGann.

Co-recipients of the Bruce Morrell Education Award will be Renee Katz and Sheila Rind, who began volunteering at HMTC together 15 years ago.

Over the years they have influenced the lives of countless students and adults who have visited the Center. Before coming to HMTC, they volunteered at the Nassau County Museum of Art for nine years.

On Wednesday and Sunday afternoons they can be found at HMTC giving guided tours of the museum as docents, leading education programs or helping at events.
