Manor Oaks School students in grades K-6 were virtually visited by author and

illustrator Peter Catalanotto through a Google Meet livestream on May 12 and May 19. The presentation was made possible due to the efforts of teachers Christina Sciarrotto,

Sharon Layburn and Barbara Nelson, as well as the school’s PTA.

Prior to the livestreams, the PTA purchased Catalanotto’s books for each class. Kindergartners and first graders read “Matthew ABC,” “Daisy 1, 2, 3” and “Ivan the Terrier.” Second and third graders received “Monkey & Robot: Friends and Neighbors,” “Emily’s Art,” and “Dylan’s Day Out.”

Fourth and fifth graders read “Mr. Mumble,” “Question Boy Meets Little Miss Know-It-All” and “An Angel for Solomon Singer.” Sixth graders read “An Angel for Solomon Singer” and “Mother to Tigers.”

During the livestream on May 12, Mr. Catalanotto discussed his writing and drawing process. He told the students that he’s always loved to draw and talk about ideas, and he encouraged them to write or draw their own stories. On May 19, he answered the students’ questions.
