The critically acclaimed American Chamber Ensemble, celebrating its 53rd Anniversary, will present Debussy: 100 Years Later on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 3 p.m. at Hofstra University’s Monroe Lecture Center Theater, California Avenue in Hempstea. This is presented by the university’s Music Department.
Selections for this concert will be Debussy’s “La fille aux cheveux de lin,” “Il pleure dans mon Coeur” and Golliwog’s “Cakewalk” for violin and piano, “L’isle joyeuse” for solo piano, a movement from his Trio in G Major for violin, cello and piano, “Premiere Rhapsodie” for clarinet and piano, the “Cello Sonata” in G Major for cello and piano and two movements of his String Quartet.
ACE will also present Henri Vieuxtemp’s Elegie for viola and piano and Saint-Saens’ Introduction and Rondo capriccioso for violin and piano.
Performers will include ACE members, pianists Marilyn Lehman and Blanche Abram, violinists Eriko Sato and Deborah Wong, violist Lois Martin and cellist Chris Finckel. Very special guest will be Stanley Drucker, principal clarinet and member of the New York Philharmonic for 60 seasons.
