Surrounded by the weapons and operational armor of the era, The Museum of American Armor will conduct ceremonies on June 6 at 12 p.m., marking the 75th anniversary of D-Day, where interdenominational prayers will be offered for the thousands of Allied lives lost that day storming the Normandy beaches.
Former Congressman and historian Steve Israel will provide an historic perspective and Armor Museum leadership will challenge the region’s educators to provide additional classroom time to the study the legacy of World War II and its impact on our 21st Century world. The public is invited to attend the ceremony.
The museum features many of the operational tanks and artillery that came ashore that June morning in 1944 to confront the Nazi Third Reich. Throughout the year it creates a variety of realistic tactical scenarios in cooperation for the purpose of keeping alive the heritage of those Americans who have defended our freedoms.
The Museum of American Armor is at 1303 Round Swamp Road in Old Bethpage.
