The award-winning Axiom Brass Quintet, which has quickly established itself as “one of the major art music groups in brass chamber music,” will take the stage at the Adelphi University Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Feb. 1.

Praised for its “high level of musicality and technical ability” and for its “clean, clear and precise sound,” Axiom Brass is the only brass quintet in 27 years to ever win the prestigious Chamber Music Yellow Springs Competition (2012), and the only American ensemble to ever win the Preis der Europa-Stadt Passau in Germany (2012).

In the fourth year of Axiom Brass’ residency at Adelphi, they will present a wide-ranging program of works from the 16th century through to the 21 century, with works by William Byrd, Johann Sebastian Bach, Morley Calvert and Christopher Rouse.

In addition, they will perform two 21st century works commissioned in celebration of their 10th anniversary in 2017 – Ben Hjertmann’s “From the Morning,” and “Avian Capriccio” by Augusta Red Thomas.

Axiom Brass will perform at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, on the Westermann Stage in Adelphi’s PAC Concert Hall.

Tickets are $30, with discounts available to seniors, students, alumni and employees. For more information call the Lucia and Steven N. Fischer Box Office at 516-877-4000 or email boxoffice@adelphi.edu.

Regular box office hours are Tuesday through Friday from 1 to 6 p.m. and the box office is also open two hours before most scheduled performances. Ticket sales and additional information are available online.
