Church of Our Saviour’s Lenten series of speakers

The Island Now

Neela Mukerjee Lockel, chief executive officer of the American Red Cross of Long Island joined New York City Fire Commissioner Dan Nigro on Sunday, March 17 at Manhasset’s Church of Our Saviour, Lutheran’s Lenten “Sacrifice and Serve” speaker series to discuss emergency services the American Red Cross provides for the community.

As part of the Sunday worship experience throughout Lent a special guest exemplifies the Lenten call to “Sacrifice and Serve,” providing opportunities to learn of those caring for others, and to lift them up in prayer for their service, and be inspired to consider personal opportunities to serve God in similar means of thanksgiving.

Upcoming guests are: John Durso, Long Island Federation of Labor (labor/workforce) on March 24; Hon. Thomas Suozzi, U.S. Congressman (public service) on March 31; and Drew Scott, opioid addiction task force leader and news broadcaster (addictions) on April 7. All are welcome. The church is located at 1901 Northern Boulevard in Manhasset.
