SCW Cultural Arts at Emanuel concludes season with "Mame"

The seventh season of Stephen C. Widom Cultural Arts at Emanuel concludes on Sunday, June 2, at 3 p.m., with “Mame,” presented by Plaza Theatrical Productions.

“Mame” is the hit musical, with book by Jerome Lawrence and Robert Edwin Lee and music and lyrics by Jerry Herman. It is the story of Roaring 20s socialite Mame Dennis, who teaches her orphaned nephew the nature of free living and free thinking, attempting to keep him from the clutches of the “uptight” establishment world of his late father’s estate executor and, later, his fiancée. The award-winning score features such standards as “If He Walked Into My Life,” “We Need a Little Christmas” and “Mame.”

Plaza Theatrical Productions, founded in 1983, has been called “Long Island’s most prolific touring theatre company” by The New York Times. The show is funded by Dr. Beth and Steven Myers and family. Following the show, there will be refreshments.

Tickets are $20 or two for $35. For further information and to purchase tickets, call 516-482-5701. Temple Emanuel is located at 150 Hicks Lane in Great Neck.
