Reiki Healing with Holiday Spirit Friday, December 4 at 7 p.m. What is Reiki? What can it do for me? How does it heal? Reiki Practitioner, Pamela Bickford, will talk about her own healing journey with Reiki, after a cancer diagnosis. She will explain the various benefits of Reiki, how she incorporates the use of essential oils into her practice, and will demonstrate how Reiki is performed.

Virtual Physician Lecture: Hearing and Hearing Disturbances Tuesday, December 8 at 12 noon. Dr. Maja Svrakic, board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology, of Northwell Health will discuss the many issues involved with hearing loss and hearing disturbances.

Book Discussion – Fresh Fiction Book Club Tuesday, December 8 at 7 p.m. The book being discussed is: The 7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Aging and reclusive Hollywood movie icon Evelyn Hugo is finally ready to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life.

Sketching and Acrylics with Jennifer Wednesday, December 9 at 1 p.m. In this class we will be painting a beautiful snowy landscape with the aurora borealis shining in the night sky. Please check the library’s website for supplies needed for this class.

Holiday Plants with Paul, the Plant Guy Wednesday, December 9 at 7 p.m. Ring in the holiday cheer with Paul the Plant Man! Topics to include: Evergreens, Poinsettias, Christmas cacti, Paper whites, Northfolk island pines, and more.

Staying Relaxed During This Holiday Season With Meditation Thursday, December 10 at 7 p.m. The scientific community has recently been exploring the use of meditation as a healing modality. Join Nirav Sheth long time meditator as he discusses the extraordinary effect of meditation.

Let It Snow! A Virtual Holiday Concert Friday, December 11 at 7 p.m. Celebrate the holiday season with Musician Dori-Jo and the Hillside Public Library. Featuring River by Joni Mitchell, Christmas (Baby Please Come Home), Let it Snow, and I’ll Be Home for Christmas, and more holiday favorites!

Make pop-up greeting cards with Judy Kotkin! Wednesday, December 16 at 10 a.m. For beginning and intermediate greeting card makers! Supplies needed: cardstock; scissors; ruler and glue.

Celebrate the Anniversary of The Boston Tea Party Wednesday, December 16 at 7 p.m. December 16, 2020 is the 247th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party! Come celebrate this important event in the founding of the United States with a talk that explores tea, revolution, and the East India Company. This is the perfect class for both tea-lovers and history buffs!

Genealogy: Exploring Your Immigrant Ancestor Thursday, December 17 at 7 p.m. Discover your ancestor(s) who came to America. Learn how to find and examine ship passenger lists, naturalization records, and other documents.

Winter Wonderland! Sketching and Watercolors with Jennifer Friday, December 18 at 7 p.m. n this class we will be painting a beautiful holiday wreath, decorated with personalized ornaments of your choosing! We will be going over the sketching basics for an array of different ornaments. Please check the library’s website for supplies needed for this class.

Book Discussion – Armchair Historians Wednesday, December 23 at 7 p.m. The book being discussed is: A Year Without Summer by William Klingamen. A massive Indonesian volcano named Tambora erupted in April 1815, killing about 90,000 people and spewing tons of volcanic ash into the atmosphere, profoundly altering global weather patterns.

Snow Science- Winter Explorations with Stemtastic Monday, December 7 at 4:30 p.m. Grades: 1-4 (parental help with younger grades). Winter is upon us, with its long nights. We’ll look at the science behind these short days & long nights. We’ll learn how animals change their habits during winter & perform some winter experiments and we’ll make our own snow! Please check the library’s website for materials needed for this class.

Curbside Crafts Thursday, December 10, 12 noon – 5 p.m. All Ages! Come pick up your very own Holiday or Hanukkah Craft to design at home!

Yoga Thursday, December 10 at 5 p.m. All Ages – Kids/Tweens/Teens. Join Yogi Micheline in a night of relaxing poses. A yoga class for kids of all ages!

Virtual Paint Night Friday, December 11 at 5:30 p.m. Grades 5 – 12. Artist Jennifer Ayala is back with another step-by-step paint night!

Baking with Chef Rob! Saturday, December 12 at 12 noon. Join Chef Rob’s Holiday Cookie Workshop live on Facebook. Family fun for all ages! Click the following links for recipes. Chilling Kahoot Trivia Game Night Monday, December 14 at 6:30 p.m. Grades: 1-3 (Family Game Night!) Head to the North Pole and test your knowledge with some freezing cold trivia! **All participants will be entered in a Raffle to receive a prize.

Snickerdoodle Cookies with Chef Julie! Thursday, December 17 at 5:30 p.m. All Ages – Family Fun! Chef Julie is back with a delcious holiday treat: Snickerdoodle cookies! A list of ingredients will be emailed after registration.

Play Hooray Friday, December 18 at 11 a.m. Ages: 18 months & Up (with parent/caregiver). Stories, music & movement with Mollie the Mouse.

Easy Holiday Origami Friday, December 18 at 4:30 p.m. Grades: 2 & Up. Learn the basic folds & create some Holiday masterpieces.

Holiday Movie Kahoot Trivia Night Monday, December 21 at 7 p.m. All Ages – Family Fun! Put your holiday movie knowledge to the test in this fun Kahoot trivia night! Fun for the whole family. A prize will be awarded to the night’s winner. All who attend will be entered in a raffle for an additional prize! You will need two devices for this program!

Holiday Spectacular – Pajama Story Time Tuesday, December 22 at 7 p.m. All Ages! Stories, music & movement with Mrs. S., Ms. Karen & Mr. B.! Wear your Pajamas!

Time for Kids – The Gingerbread Man Monday, December 28 at 11 a.m. Ages: Birth- 5 years (with parent/caregiver) Run, run, run as fast as you can with A Time for Kids, Inc. as we try to catch the Gingerbread Man!!! Activities include music, movement, fine & gross motor development and storytelling! There will also be a cute gingerbread craft!
