Assemblyman Anthony D’Urso’s bill, authorizing the Nassau County Assessor’s office to grant a tax exemption to Spectrum Designs Foundation Ltd, a nonprofit 501 (c) 3 organization, was signed by the governor.

“I was happy to help Spectrum Designs, a company that I am proud to have in my district due to their meaningful service to the community through their tireless commitment to individuals with autism,” said D’Urso. “Spectrum Designs serves an integral role as a pathway to meaningful employment to those who might have otherwise faced obstacles.”

Spectrum Designs is an apparel customization shop that assists in providing gainful employment and meaningful work opportunities to teenage and young adult individuals with autism in an effort to assist them in leading fuller, independent and productive lives. With the help of on-site educational staff, they assist young adults and teenagers with autism in addressing possible employment barriers. Together, the team works to build on employment strengths while developing skills which will assist them in their future endeavors. The company and their dedicated staff have received widespread recognition for their efforts, and were featured in a 2016 article in Forbes magazine titled, “Where is Autism Employment Headed in 2017?”
