Find your roots at Temple Isaiah

The Island Now
Debbie Wang, Immediate Past President of the Jewish Genealogy Society of Long Island, will present a talk on finding your roots.

Guest speaker Debbie Wang, immediate past president of The Jewish Genealogy Society of Long Island, will a present a talk on Jewish genealogy at Temple Isaiah on Thursday, Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m.

Wang has been researching her family for over 42 years.

Her father, Samuel H. Wang, a Holocaust refugee, was devastated when his family was murdered during the war. As a result, he never spoke about his family. Her mother’s family arrived at New York’s Lower East Side in 1906.

These two opposite backgrounds prompted Debbie to explore her ancestors. In this program, she will share her journey discovering her family roots and the work of the genealogy society.

The Jewish Genealogy Society of Long Island leads workshops and lectures to help you uncover your family history. Founded in 1985 to encourage and assist the pursuit of Jewish family history, their goal is to bring together people interested in tracing their Jewish family roots, working to educate members and the public regarding the ‘how to’ of finding one’s roots.”

Learn how the society can help you get started on your family history and navigate the many options available, including where and how to find the many Jewish records which exist in the United States, Europe and Israel.

The community is invited to attend this program, and refreshments will be served. There is no charge for admission, but please RSVP to the Temple office: (516) 487- 5373. Temple Isaiah of Great Neck is located at One Chelsea Place, off Cutter Mill Road.
