Floral Park’s annual Veteran’s Day Ceremony, sponsored by the Floral Park American Legion with the support and cooperation of the Incorporated Village of Floral Park, will be held at Veteran’s Memorial Park on Monday, Nov. 11 at 11:00 a.m.

There will be a special presentation of a wreath to honor the service of all Veterans and the 100th anniversary of the founding of Floral Park American Legion Post 334.
On Veteran’s Day we commemorate the service of all Veterans. We remember the men and women that left their civilian lives to serve our nation, preserve our freedom and protect our way of life. Our Veterans are part of us, part of our history. It is fitting and proper that we honor them for their courage, loyalty, service and sacrifice.
The Floral Park American Legion invites all veterans and their families to join the short march from the Atlantic Avenue Extension down Tulip Avenue to Memorial Park.

Marching with the members of the Post will be members of the American Legion Auxiliary, Sons of the American Legion and local Scout Troops. Also marching will be Mayor Dominick Longobardi and members of the Floral Park Board of Trustees. All will assemble for the march at 10:40 a.m.
Invited to give the Invocation is the Rev Thomas Fusco, Pastor of Our Lady of Victory Church. Invited to give the Benediction is the Rev T. Abigail Murphy of St. Elizabeth’s Church. The Pledge of Allegiance will be led by local Scout Troops followed by the National Anthem.
The POW-MIA ceremony will be conducted by Vietnam Veteran Robert Murray. American Legion Auxiliary President Dolores Johnson will speak on the importance of the families of Veterans and Past American Legion Post Commander James Whalen will present the meaning of Veteran’s Day.
The American Legion Color Guard will be led by U.S. Army Veteran and Sergeant at Arms Edward LaChapelle. Taps will be played for fallen comrades and wreaths will be presented. The ceremonies will conclude with God Bless America sung by all those present.
Our Village’s Veteran’s Day Ceremony and presentation of the wreaths to honor our Veterans exemplifies Floral Park’s commitment to “always remember” and to extend a heartfelt thank you and welcome home to all our Veterans.
In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at the Floral Park American Legion at 15 Elizabeth Street at 11:00 a.m.
