Adelphi University’s Department of Theatre starts the festive season off with Charles Dickens’ novella A Christmas Carol at the Adelphi University Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Dec. 14.
The department brings the Victorian classic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge published in 1843 to the stage as it would have been performed in a radio studio in the 1930s, as a dramatic reading. The event is an annual holiday tradition. It is dramatized by Barbara Field and directed by Brian Rose.
There is no charge for the show, but those who are able are asked to bring a can or box of nonperishable food to be donated to the Mary Brennan Interfaith Nutrition Network Food Kitchen in Hempstead.
The reading of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol will take place at 2 p.m. in the Olmsted Theatre in Adelphi’s PAC Concert Hall.
