Gold Coast Arts Center Named as Finalist in the 7th Annual Long Island Imagine Awards

The Gold Coast Arts Center is among four finalists in the Arts & Culture category in the 7th Annual Long Island Imagine Awards.

The Long Island Imagine Awards was created to offer formal acknowledgment to some of Long Island’s most effective and innovative nonprofit organizations. Last year’s event attracted over 400 attendees from the nonprofit and business communities, and an even larger crowd is anticipated this year.

The winners will be announced live at the awards gala at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury on Tuesday, April 30. Nominated organizations, their constituents and prominent members of Long Island’s business community are expected to attend.

More than 170 entries were submitted for consideration in five categories, including Innovation, Leadership Excellence, Rising Star, Social Impact and Arts & Culture.

“The Gold Coast Arts Center was established to make the arts accessible to all members of the community, but it has exceeded our expectations,” said Regina Gil, founder and executive director. “We have been very responsive to the area’s ever-changing demographics, size, needs, and demands. We offer programming that reaches approximately 100,000 people annually; including more than 4,000 people from 170 unique zip codes who attended our 2018 Gold Coast International Film Festival. We are Nassau County’s only independent multi-arts non-profit center.”

In 2017, the Gold Coast Arts Center launched a series of free programs designed for people living with dementia and their care partners called Making Memories Through The Arts. Individuals of all ages enjoy clips of classic films or live musical performances followed by guided conversation and reminiscence. Recognizing that the arts have the power to spark memories and create emotional connections, the series has been attended by close to 1,000 patrons since its inception. If selected, the Gold Coast Arts Center will use the $5,000 award provided by the awards program to help grow the Making Memories Through the Arts initiative.

Finalists were chosen by Long Island’s business professionals during preliminary judging. Members of the awards’ distinguished judging panel selected the Imagine Awards winners from among the finalists during final judging.

“Being named a finalist in The Long Island Imagine Awards is an important achievement,” said Ken Cerini, founder of the Long Island Imagine Awards. “It means that the organization has been identified as a leader on Long Island, exhibiting impactful and innovative operations. Congratulations to all of the finalists on their achievement.”
