Gold Coast Arts presents new exhibit: Chinese Artists in America

The Island Now

This winter, the Gold Coast Arts Center will present a new art exhibit, Chinese Artists in America, featuring eight contemporary Chinese-American artists who have created a new visual language that embodies aspects of traditional Chinese art while responding to a time of great transition.

The exhibition reflects the creative vitality of Chinese-American cultural growth through the arts and its historical and aesthetic linkage to other communities.

The works express the artists’ personal beliefs, national pride, and international awareness. Artists’ presentations will include the works of Yafu Wang, Ping Wang, Arthur Liu, Zhen Guo, Huang Yulin, Wei Hai, Xiangdong Shi, and Dexiang Qian.

All works are for sale and a portion of sales benefit the Gold Coast Arts Center, a not-for-profit cultural organization.

An opening reception will be held at the Gold Coast Arts Center, 113 Middle Neck Road in Great Neck, on Sunday, Jan. 13 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will feature a musical performance with Chinese string instruments and traditional Chinese refreshments. The event is free and open to the public.

The exhibition will be on display at the Arts Center from Jan. 13 to March 30. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
