The Island Now

Hillside Grade School had the opportunity to host Regent Roger Tilles for a special visitation on Nov. 9.

The staff and students were thrilled to welcome Regent Tilles into the school and highlight some of their very special programs.

The visit began with Regent Tilles, Dr. Morrison and Mrs. Torreano visiting with third grade classes.

Ms. Stillman’s and Mr. Halligan’s students were proud to share their school community with Regent Tilles and listen to him read various poems to the class.

Tilles also spent time with Mrs. Pesenti and our fifth and sixth grade handchimes ensemble. He was impressed by the musicianship of our students and our music education program at Hillside.

Tilles also spent time with the sixth grade DASA Ambassadors and Mrs. Cohen.

Students spoke about our anti-bullying initiative and the wonderful program that we have at Hillside Grade School.

Lastly, Ms. Hansen facilitated a “Beautiful Me” group with several of our female students and talk about self esteem and the important life skills they are learning in this group.
