Browsing & borrowing by appointment

While the Hillside Public Library continues to offer curbside pickup, we are excited to include browsing & borrowing by appointment. Patrons will be invited to enter the library to browse the library’s collection and borrow materials. Appointments to enter the building are required. Here’s how the browsing & borrowing by appointment process will work: 1. Please make a reservation using the library’s online program calendar (https://hillsidelibrary.info/events) to secure a Browsing appointment and instructions. Available Timeslots: • Mondays & Wednesdays: 10:30-3:30pm Tuesdays & Thursdays: 2:30-7:30pm

Sketching and Watercolor with Jennifer Friday, September 25 at 7 p.m. Supplies needed: basic watercolor set; basic paintbrush set; 2b pencil; an eraser and a set of water color paper (if water color paper is not available, try doing a few test swipes on normal sketchbook paper with a wet brush to test for warping and color bleeding.) In this class you will be through the fundamentals of sketching and painting a beautiful still-life, filled with an abundance of fruits and vegetables.

Elder Law Workshop Tuesday, September 29 at 6 p.m. This important lecture will cover the following topics: Medicare vs. Medicaid (nursing home and community (rules are changing in October); LTC insurance; Planning with trusts (recovable, irrevocable) and promissory notes; Deed transfers and miscellaneous elder law issues. Hot Tips on the Most Current Frauds and Scams Wednesday, September 30 at 10:30 a.m. The three most relevant scams currently being perpetrated are tied to Census 2020, Covid-19 and the Federal Government Impact Checks. Attend this workshop to become aware of who is being targeted and why; ways to protect yourself and what to do if you have been a victim.
